Model - SQUARE 189GFETLC 240 or 208 volt, inside dimensions: 18" x 18" wide x 9" deep, fires to 1700° F
Two kilns in one! The Square 189GFETLC is a top loading and clamshell loading kiln! You get the standard top loading model plus the clamshell loading which makes flash venting, glass raking and loading shelves with glass positioned easy and convenient. Glass firing kilns are used for fusing and forming of glass shapes and heat-treating. 240-208 volt glass fusing models are equipped with a lid element for the fusing segment of the glass firing and body elements for the ramping up-down and annealing segments of the firing. An infinite switch controls the intensity of the heat coming from the lid element. If the switch remains in the OFF position, only the body elements will heat the kiln. If the infinite switch is turned to the High position, all elements, both body and lid, heat at the same intensity. The kiln operator may choose to lessen the intensity of lid element by turning the switch down. Models come equipped with pilot light, 18” tall metal stand or frame, stainless steel jacket, and Bartlett Instruments 3 Key electronic controller. Controller data is entered by scrolling through the up and down arrows for the desired temperature for ramp-hold programming.
Model comes with attached tall frame or tall stand, peephole plugs, lid wedge, instruction manual, and warranty card. Two-year warranty.
Upgrade to the Genesis touchscreen controller or the12 key digital RTC-1000 controller for more ramp-hold user programs and multiple features including delay start, preheat, skip step and many more for precise firings every time. Messages and Information are available for reviewing a firing profile before or during the firing, and for viewing the current segment the firing is in. Other options include the lid lift assist, which makes it easy to open and close heavy kiln lids, bead door, quartz glass viewing window, Type S thermocouple, vent and much more!
Furniture Kits for 240-208 volt glass fusing kilns include 2 layers of shelving for stacking ware, assorted square posts, ceramic paper and a one pound bag of kiln wash. Choose the standard furniture kit for the model chosen or build your own with shelves and posts in the quantities required.
A Solid State Relay is hands down the best investment you can make in your kiln!
The relay is what controls the power cycling of the elements in the kiln and they need to be able to withstand a ton of power as they do so. The solid state relays are incredibly efficient compared to the standard mechanical relays and are able to operate at much faster speeds. What this equates to is incredibly tight temperature control for accurate firings, longer element life, and savings on your electrical bill!
The standard mechanical relays have moving parts which cause wear and tear over the years and will eventually need to be replaced; however with a solid state relay it's likely to last the entire life of the kiln! You will save money and time by never needing to worry about this in the future!
Olympic has close relationships with the manufacturers of a variety of digital controllers. This means you will have nothing but the best the best in terms of performance and accuracy in your firings.
With a selection of multiple controllers available - you can choose exactly what fits your needs.
The Genesis is a touch screen option which has extended functionality over traditional button controllers!
The Genesis has the ability to store up to 12 different programs - with up to 32 segments per program each! You'll have no trouble adding segments, skipping, or adding temperature along the way.
This is a great choice for a controller if you want the features of a smart controller, but want the ease of straightforward programming and use.
With an intuitive keypad and versatile features, the Bartlett KilnStar Controller allows operators to create up to 6 custom firing programs, each with up to 8 segments, or combine them for 16-segment programs for more complex firings!
Need to adjust on-the-go? The KilnStar makes it easy to add time, skip segments, or adjust the final temperature mid-firing. Preheat is a breeze too, with the option to hold the kiln at 200°F for drying ware before moving into the firing cycle.
Cone Fire mode simplifies ceramic firings, while Vary-Fire offers full control over firing profiles, perfect for glass and jewelry. Whether you're firing ceramics, glass, or custom projects, the KilnStar is a flexible and powerful tool for any kiln operator.
The optional lid lifter lightens the force necessary to operate the kiln lid. It does so with ease and grace and with no negative effects upon the kiln itself.
With many of these larger kilns, the lids tend to pack a solid punch when it comes to weight. While they're still manageable without the optional lid lifter, we've always found them to be a joy to use and make our day-to-day lives in the studio that much easier.
The power interrupt switch is a useful safety feature which removes power from the heating elements of your kiln once it is opened, and reapplies the power once the lid has been closed.
If you believe you'd ever like to open the kiln during firing, the power interrupt switch is a highly recommended addition to your new purchase.
Furniture Kits are necessary accessories for any kiln owner as firing directly on the kiln floor is not only bad for the kiln, but your pieces as well. In addition to this, they're also useful! A furniture kit will allow you to stack multiple shelves on top of one another in order to maximize the useable space when firing smaller pieces.
If you have one that will fit this kiln size already, then you're in luck! But if not, you'll want to ensure you add this to your order as well.
Furniture Kit includes:
Kiln furniture can be special ordered separately, but if done so the cost is ~10-20% higher and will incur a separate shipping charge. It's best to include this on your initial order of the kiln.
* Received shelves may contain surface imperfections such as scratches, discoloration or rough edge. These possible imperfections are understood and accepted by the buyer.
The Bead Door is a 2" x 4" opening with an insulated door covering. This is a very useful option when you need quick and easy access into the interior of your kiln, without opening the main door and releasing the kiln's heat.
* The Bead Door is not compatible with the slotted brick door.
The Flash Arm is a metal arm on kiln that is notched for 2" and 4" openings for the lid venting.
The Emergency Parts Kit is an excellent resource to have on hand for when your kiln eventually needs a little maintenance after all your projects! Ensure you never need to slow down and can get right back to work.
This kit includes:
